Well, this weekend we decided to take the kids to see the movie Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. Frankly, we couldn't take the begging anymore, the kids had been all over this since it before it opened back on September 18th. For those who might not know, this movie is based on the popular Ron Barret children's book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Our children are a girl 5 and boy 6 and I was concerned if the movie might be a little much for them. But to my surprise they really got into the characters and the movie itself, they ate it up (pun intended).

Honestly, I was surprised at the plot they got going out of this--while still maintaining the basics of the book. It had an ADHD spirit with wonderfully over-the-top characters. This will probably annoy many a soul, but I thought it a winning combination for those who can put up with it all. Really, you need the heart and mind of a child for this, but if you can summon those up, you will be impressed.

We were able to see this in 3D format, which was especially fun for the kiddies since this was there first 3D. They couldn’t get over how they really thought that the meatballs were going to hit them in the face. The animation was stunning, combining a tribute to the books amazing illustrations in background with pleasantly cartoony characters. My kids especially loved the land of ice cream scene most. With the voice talents of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, and James Caan, this light-hearted comedy is well worth the watch.

So if the kiddies are still asking to see this, or even if it’s just the kid inside of you that needs to be “fed,” give this movie a whirl. I am certain you won’t be disappointed.
