It’s rare that I have the opportunity to review something that I am certain is relevant to every person reading or visiting this blog, but this one falls right in that category. In order to read this blog, you would've had to have accessed the internet. This product is what you may, if not do need to keep you safe during your surfing adventures. If I haven’t mentioned this before, I am a huge tech fan. I get excited when new software and hardware is introduced in the market and love having the chance to put them through their paces. For the majority of my computer using lifetime, I have been a fan and user of one Symantec product or another, usually Norton Anti-Virus. But as the hackers and cyber thieves have become more advanced in their techniques, I have had to add more security options to my computers. So, you can imagine my excitement when I was offered the opportunity to review and try out Symantec’s new software, the 2010 version of Norton Internet Security.
At the time I received this product to try, I had another manufacture’s security and anti-virus software installed on my computers. I had not been happy with it as it didn’t allow for the type of customization I desired or needed. But, it came with the computer so I continued to use it. So, you might be asking what is Norton Internet Security 2010? It is a security suite built to protect and enhance your internet safety. These are only some of the benefits you will experience by using this suite:
Easy to Install and Proactive Help – It will even walk you through installing on an infected system
Provides Insight – It allows you to access a database of possible threats and files and the experience others have had before you.
Priase Worthy Anti-spam Filter – It filters all POP3 e-mail for spam and viruses and integrates with Outlook and Outlook Express.
Impressive Parental Controls - Is Web-based and you can manage it from any Internet-equipped computer.
Good in Testing – In testing by AV-Test.org, it rated Norton to have caught 99.14 percent of malware from a collection of nearly a half million samples, with no false positives.
Thorough Malware Cleanup - Once Norton Insight has processed all files, the scan is capable of skipping any identified as "Norton Trusted."
Multilayer Malware Blocking – Sonar, Site Safety and Download Insight provide a triple threat of safety.
Minimal Performance Impact – The new suite uses minimal system resources.
Trustworthy Firewall - It allows internet access for known good programs, deletes known bad programs, and keeps an eye on the behavior of unknowns.
Privacy Protection – Has a 93 percent detection rate for verified phishing sites.
View-Only Network Map - Norton's network map allows you to view all computers on the network and remotely track the status of those with Norton installed.
Norton Internet Security 2010 gets an A+ in my book. The easy to control interface, enhanced level of detail, and speed in performance is what really makes it receive the “plus” in A+. It offers great protection right out of the box with its default settings, which makes it simple to use for basic computer users. There are tons of configurable settings and features inside to allow power users to tweak it, which is a real plus for me. This provides a complete set of security features to protect your machine, your identity, your kids, and your network from malware and other online threats. Symantec offers a free 30 day trial of the software on its site. It may also be purchased for $69.99 on the syamantec site after the trial period, with a one-year license that can be used to protect up to three computers. This works on Windows XP SP2 (32-bit), Vista (32 & 64-bit), and Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit). You can also find this at Amazon for a lot less.
So, I guess you can see why you need this product; it addresses all your computer and internet needs in one nice convenient package. So, do you want to win one for yourself? One lucky winner will receive a Norton Internet Security 2010 one-year license, which can be used to protect up to three computers.
