When Phil Vischer decided to spend time focusing on his relationship with the Lord, he felt a need to move beyond his Mega Hit series Veggie Tales and become more scripture focused. Our benefit of his deep reflection is his new DVD series "What's in the Bible?" This new series will get back to his original focus, which was to lead children deeper into the Bible, by teaching them the gospel and how to live it before the world. This video series features puppets, which lots of younger children may have never experienced with almost everything being digitally animated these days. This new series is sure to bring Biblical literacy to a generation of children who are often congested by technology.

This series would be a good resource for use in a children's ministry at your church, Sunday school classes, families who are focusing on family devotions, home schooling families as part of their Bible curriculum and everyone who would like a non-intimidating way to expand their knowledge of the Bible. In the "What's in the Bible?" series you will find a strong message about sin and how it separates us from God. It is also made clear that the only way to bridge this divide is through God's plan of redemption.

Much of the reason behind Phil Vischer creating this new series stems from these amazing statistics:

• Sixty-five percent of young people stop attending and being connected to a church after high school

• Fifty percent of protestant American adults can't define the word "grace"

• Half of Americans can only name one of the four gospels

Phil Visher is passionate about educating this generation through teaching them what is in the Bible. He also wants to be certain that they not only know the Bible, but how to know the God of the Bible and how all the "stories" in the Bible tell the main story of God’s plan of redemption for the world. His answer is a 13 part DVD set that will take kids through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I received a copy of the first two DVD's in this set, "In the Beginning" and "Let My People Go", from Tyndale House Publishers for the purpose of this review.

To get your little one(s) started on this series here are some What’s In the Bible? coloring pages.

This DVD will also be an interactive series. Phil Vischer understands that today’s world is technologically driven and has thought to make this a part of the experience. You can find What’s in the Bible? on Facebook and Twitter. There is also an interactive children’s site called JellyTelly.com which works with this series. It is for kids to learn more about the stories and characters they meet form the What’s In the Bible? DVD series. You can also stop by the website.
