I must admit that The Wild Thornberrys was my most favorite cartoon show in the 1990's.  That really say's a lot since, I was a married working adult at the time.  The hit series follows the Thornberry family as they travel the world in their Communications Vehicle (or CommVee) looking for rare animals to film.  After an encounter with an African shaman, their youngest child Eliza was given the power to speak to animals! Every episode in this adventure-packed DVD set, follows Eliza as she comes face-to-face with an assortment of animals, continents and danger. The Wild Thornberrys family includes Nigel, the father, as he hosts a TV series shot by Marianne, the mother. Along for the trip are Eliza (the real star of the show), Debbie (the "cool" sister), Darwin (a chimpanzee), and Donnie (a... wild child). Join them as they trek across the world, finding adventure along the way.

The release of this DVD is part of Nickelodeon’s commitment to bring back classic shows. Nickelodeon will also launch a new nighttime programming block this fall on TeenNick called “The ’90s Are All That!,” featuring a rotating selection of iconic live-action and animated shows from Nickelodeon’s 1990s.

After a talent scout spots her performing with her dog Boi at a charity gala, Sharpay Evans (Tisdale) sets off for the bright lights of NYC, convinced instant fame and fortune are in the bag (designer bag, that is). But theatre’s a dog-eat-dog world, as she and Boi discover when they encounter the devious owner of a pampered pooch named “Countess” and a scheming Broadway starlet who will do anything to crush the competition. Fortunately, Sharpay also meets Peyton (Austin Butler), a handsome student filmmaker who finds Sharpay nearly as fascinating as she finds herself.

From Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment:Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure releases direct to DVD tomorrow.  The movie spin-off from High School Musical starring Ashley Tisdale. The film follows Sharpay Evans, a spoiled rich heiress, after she has graduated high school and looking to get her big break on Broadway. After seeing Sharpay performing a song and dance number at her country club with her dog Boi, Jerry Taylor, a famous producer, was impressed and told her that he was looking to cast a Broadway musical in New York City. Her father lets her go on one condition: either she makes it in one month or she has to come back home and work for her parents. At first Sharpay thinks that she has her rise to stardom all planned out but when she arrives in New York she gets kicked out of her penthouse and discovers that Jerry was only interested in casting her dog for the part in the show! Forced to take the help of the son of a family friend, Peyton, she moves into a studio apartment and plans to use her dog as a stepping stone to get to her fame. Sharpay goes head to head with a very competitive Roger Elliston who also wants his dog, Countess, to star in the show. Desperate, Sharpay becomes assistant to her idol and star of the show, Amber Lee Adams only to discover she is not the kind of person Sharpay thinks she is. With time running out and her spirit broken, Sharpay will have to act like the star she is again to get to make her dreams come true.

This movie is sure to be every pre-teen, tween and teen girls favorite.  Very fru-fru and pink with a cute dog to boot. This movie is cute and fun and I think would be perfect for a mom and her daughter to sit down and giggle over.  As with most Disney movies, this one has a message positive message and helps young girls understand how to go about setting goals and achieving them, even though things may not go as planned..

Check out this blooper reel.

Stop by Disney Movie Rewards, they currently have a $8 off coupon for the Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure Combo Pack!

Groupon once again, has what I think is a smokin hot deal. Today you can purchase 5 one-day Blockbuster Express video rentals for $2.  During these cold winter months, what better way to enjoy the day than staying in your warm home and watching your favorite flick.  You can find the deal here on their site. The groupon doesn't expire until May 2013, so you'll have plenty of time to find a movie you will enjoy watching.

This is what Groupon has to say about this deal:
Enter your Groupon rental code at a kiosk using the Blockbuster Express touch screen, then take home the latest smash hits, kids’ flicks, three-hankie melodramas, and Tom Hanksy romantic comedies. Groupon users will be required to swipe their credit or debit cards during their Blockbuster rentals, but will only be charged if rentals are not returned by the 9 p.m. the next day. Since rentals can be returned to any of the conveniently located kiosks, it’s easy to get them back in time. If users want to keep a movie for an extra night, they will be charged the initial rental rate plus tax per night until the discs are returned, a small price to pay for playing Twilight enough times to memorize the musical numbers.

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters..... S. T. R.  (Which are also the first three letters of Stress)

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food.. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

Thank God for the ability to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this tells 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved

The dogs are back in town. The duo of Oh-So-Chic pups Chloe and Papi are back in Beverly Hills where, they get married and add a few offspring to the shenanigans. Of course there are real life happenings sprinkled throughout the movie as well. The pup’s owners are in trouble which threatens their family. Of course the pups embark on adventures to help save their families. The movie would not be Disney if there wasn't a sprinkling of feel good scenes and this movie has it's fair share.
The kids found Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 to be funny and entertaining and I thought it was sweet. Here  is a brief synopsis from Disney:
“Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment  proudly announces the return of the greatest Chihuahuas to walk on all fours in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2! Chloe & Papi are back in an all new, ¡Ay yay yay! fun-filled adventure—and their family just got bigger. The holiday season always make me want to be near family and friends.  Being with family makes me feel warm and loved.  Although the holidays are over, there is a great new family movie that will be airing this Saturday, January 8, 2011 on FOX that will bring that warm and fuzzy feeling back that some of us may be missing since most families are back on the regular schedules from the holidays.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Up to this point, Sally Danville's life has played out just as she hoped it would. A beautiful and free-spirited musician, she and her fighter-pilot husband, Jason, live life on the go, free of domestic responsibilities. But with a single phone call from Child & Family Services case worker, Dorothy (Phylicia Rashad, The Cosby Show), she learns that things don't always go according to plan. Sally (Brooke White, American Idol) is met with the news that her best friend from college has died in a tragic accident on a Peace Corps mission and has named Sally the legal guardian of her four kids - 3 of them adopted from third-world countries. Now Sally and Jason (Joe Flanigan, Stargate Atlantis) must quickly learn to parent this instant family and help the kids deal with the culture clash of life in America. The story is both humorous and heartwarming, revealing how fulfilling life can be when you look beyond your own plans and invest in the lives of others.

Grammy winner Randy Jackson has again teamed up with Walmart and P&G to produce the soundtrack for Change of Plans. This original album consists of songs from some of the most exciting emerging talent, and includes four new songs from the movie's starring actress and American Idol ™ contestant Brooke White. The tracks have been thoughtfully arranged to enrich the movie and provide a memorable compilation that can be enjoyed by families long after the premiere.

I was privileged enough to be able to have an advance screening of this movie courtesy of Proctor & Gamble and Walmart.  The movie has both happy and sad moments and the children are found to be endearing.  The happy go lucky childless couple (never having planned for children) appear to have more adjusting to do than the children in this movie, but with the help of the children, it all works out for the best in the end.  This movie made me think about what I would do if such a thing were to happen to my family, how would we adjust, could we make it work in the end?  I love that this movie allowed the feelings of the children and adults to be expressed openly, giving everyone a view at life through the other persons eyes. The movies run time is 1 hour 28 minutes without commercials, the perfect length for keeping the kids attention.

As a part of this viewing opportunity I also received a family movie night package which included a blanket, two movie size candy boxes and three packages of microwave popcorn, everything needed to make for a fun movie night for my family. P&G and Walmart have also offered one of my readers the opportunity to win their own Family Movie Night package which will include a blanket and the snack items as well as the previous 3 family movies from P&G and Walmart: "Secrets of The Mountain", "Jenson Project" and "A Walk in My Shoes."
